“Pin-Up Girl”

"Pin-Up Girl" in Dear Lonely Hearts #6 (1954) delivers a charming, bittersweet romance with a twist that lingers long after the final page. Written by Steve Kirkel and illustrated by Steve Kirkel, the story follows Elaine, a secretary yearning for adventure, and her fleeting romance with a mysterious masked pirate at the town’s annual ball—only to discover her true feelings lie with her quiet editor, Ken, who’s been hiding in plain sight. Marty Elkin’s cover captures the story’s romantic intrigue with a striking, stylized portrait of Elaine in her ball gown, perfectly framing the tale’s emotional core.
