Defenders #5
In "Headhunt," the Defenders face a sudden, mysterious threat as the Headmen attempt to steal a powerful mystic artifact—only to fail, setting off a chain reaction that pulls each hero away from their current moment. As they rally to explain the situation to Doctor Strange, he’s abruptly yanked away by a curse, while Hulk, Doctor Samson, and the Sub-Mariner are each seized mid-act, their stories left hanging in the balance. Written by Kurt Busiek and Erik Larsen, with art by Erik Larsen and inks by Sal Buscema, this issue’s cover by Erik Larsen and Klaus Janson captures the tension perfectly—just as the team’s unity begins to unravel.
