District X #8
In "Underground 2 of 6," the tension in District X deepens as Izzy investigates a hidden community of mutants living beneath the city, where young children are among the residents. Bishop confronts his superior Vazhin over the recent shooting of Mr. M, while a blackout orchestrated by the Tunnel Rats’ leader, Melek, threatens to force the upworlders out. The issue unfolds with emotional intensity as personal conflicts collide—Armena’s struggles with her marriage, Izzy’s volatile return home, and a tense encounter with Lara at the strip club—setting the stage for a story where survival and trust are tested in the shadows. Written by David Hine and illustrated by Lan Medina, with vibrant colors by Digital Rainbow and sharp lettering by Richard Starkings, Jimmy Betancourt, and Comicraft, the cover by Steve McNiven and Mark Morales captures the underground’s looming mystery.

Bishop visits his boss, Vazhin, and demands that he lay off of Mr. M (Vazhin had the dangerous mutant shot in the head last issue). Izzy decides to investigate a band of mutants who live underground as they have young children with them. Bishop listens to Armena's marriage woes but, just as he puts his arms around her in comfort, Izzy comes home and flips out. Enraged, Izzy visits Lara at the strip club. The leader of the Tunnel Rats, Melek, causes a blackout in District X in an attempt to get the upworlders to leave his people alone.
