“Anatomical Monster”

In "Anatomical Monster," Professor Darrow constructs a robotic bodyguard, L2, to defend General Blair from Martian invaders—only to find his trusted aide, Major Garond, plotting Earth’s surrender. When Garond steals the robot’s schematics and murders Darrow, L2’s final act of defiance leads to a dramatic end on a cliffside, leaving the professor to wonder if the machine truly malfunctioned or acted with purpose. With art by Norman Nodel and inks by Vince Alascia, and a cover by Alvin Hollingsworth, this 1953 Avon classic blends Cold War paranoia with early robotics, all wrapped in a chilling, suspenseful tale.
