Excalibur #42
In "A Hatch Is Plotted," Alan Davis delivers a sharp, action-packed installment of Excalibur, where the Technet’s devious breakfast surprise blows the top off the lighthouse, sparking a fierce clash with Excalibur. When a Time Variance Authority agent intervenes to recalibrate Widget’s time-warping antics, chaos escalates—until Opal halts the fight and banishes the Technet to Earth, only for them to beg to stay and fix the damage. With Alan Davis handling both art and story, and Mark Farmer’s inks bringing the intensity to life, this 1991 issue blends sci-fi wit and superhero flair in a moment that redefines the lighthouse’s role in the team’s saga.

The Technet devise a foolproof plan for defeating Excalibur and send them a breakfast surprise that blows off the top of the lighthouse. During the ensuing battle between Excalibur and the Technet, a member of the Time Variance Authority shows up and reconfigures Widget so he will stop messing with the time stream. Opal calls the Technet off of Rachel and exiles them to earth so they ask if they can move into the lighthouse to repair the damage that they caused. Captain Britain reluctantly agrees.
