“"The sole purpose of this session..."”

In *Fathom: Killian's Tide #1*, the underwater city of Marielle lies in ruins after a surface nuclear test obliterates it, prompting the Blue council to debate humanity’s fate. When their call for restraint falls on deaf ears, Killian joins his brother Sear and a group of radical youths in a desperate bid to make the surface pay—leading to a volatile attack on a human power plant that nearly costs him everything. Written by Michael Turner, Talent Caldwell, and Bill O'Neil, with art by Talent Caldwell and inks by Jonathan Sibal, Eric Basaldua, and Jason Gorder, the issue features bold colors by Justin Ponsor and Ian Hannin, and lettering by Robin Spehar and Dennis Heisler, all under a striking cover by Talent Caldwell and Victor Llamas.

After the undersea city of Marielle is accidentally destroyed by a hydrogen bomb during nuclear testing, the council of the Blue convenes to discuss how to handle the problematic humans of the surface world. When the council advocates leniency rather than vengeance, Killian joins a band of young dissidents led by his brother Sear in order to make the humans pay for what they have done. The dissidents manage to blow up a human power plant but Killian barely escapes with his life when things don't go according to plan.
