“Common-sense” Lois wants a husband who is “rich and reliable!” On a trip to Hawaii, she meets beachcomber Dan and they are attracted to each other, but she tells him “I’ve always been taught to hate shiftlessness---irresponsibility!” She urges him to get a job: “You’ve got to decide between me and your way of life! You can’t have both!” “You love only the dollar sign,” he replies, and they break up. Her father advises her to “follow your heart,” and Lois returns to Dan.
