Force Works #16

Oct 1995 · Marvel · 1.50 USD; 2.10 CAD
“Traitor's Gate”

"Traitor's Gate" kicks off with a disorienting mystery in Force Works #16, as the enigmatic Moonraker—seemingly a longtime team member and Julia’s romantic partner—begins to unravel under the weight of shifting memories. While Julia relives small moments like cutting flowers only to find them undone, her daughter Rachel remains the only one who’s never seen Moonraker, hinting at something deeply wrong. Meanwhile, in space, Century intervenes to stop Skewer from killing the Broker, adding tension to the growing sense of instability. Written by Abnett and Lanning, with dynamic art by Jim Cheung and inks by Rey Garcia, the issue’s cover by Cheung and Garcia captures the eerie unease of a team hiding a secret.

Moonraker is a mysterious new member of Force Works that everyone "remembers" being in the team for the past six months, which also includes him being in a personal relationship with Julia [Spider-Woman]. Time seems to be resetting constantly for Julia, as little things that she remembers doing, such as cutting flowers, keep reverting back. However, Julia's daughter Rachel is the only person that doesn't know who Moonraker is, and she tells Wanda that she's never seen him before. In space, Century stops Skewer from killing the Broker.
