Force Works #21
In "Afterimage," Force Works gathers around a hologram of Tony Stark, reflecting on their origins as the team confronts a haunting twist: Suzi Endo, newly freed from stasis, faces her villainous alternate-reality counterpart who mocks her future. When a timegate activated by Kang pulls two figures from that same dark reality—Ultron and Simon Williams—into their midst, the team must reckon with the unsettling truth that their enemies may be more than just foes. Written by Dan Abnett and Andy Lanning, with art by Yancey Labat and Andrew Wildman, and a cover by Yancey Labat, this 1996 Marvel issue blends legacy, identity, and alternate futures in a moment that redefines what it means to be a hero.

Force Works listens to a posthumous hologram recording by Tony Stark made on the day that the team formed back in issue #1, wishing them all well. Suzi Endo has been freed from her stasis capsule, and introduced to her villainous future alternate reality doppelganger, who taunts her that she will eventually become just like her. One of the timegates left behind by Kang activates, and two figures emerge - Ultron and Simon Williams. However, these two are from the same alternate reality as the villainous Suzi Endo, and have come to rescue her.
