“Slippery Shine”

In "Slippery Shine," Carl Barks delivers a delightfully bizarre adventure as Donald Duck finds himself in a race against time after a cursed doll meant for Uncle Scrooge lands in his hands—thanks to a zombie with a seventy-year-old grudge. With the nephews in tow and a zombified trail of chaos following close behind, Donald journeys to Africa to seek help from the enigmatic witch doctor Foola Zoola, hoping to reverse a curse that threatens to shrink him to rat-size. Barks' signature blend of whimsy and absurdity shines through in every panel, with the story's art and cover by Barks himself bringing the whole surreal escapade to life.

A zombie gives Donald a poisoned doll that was intended for Uncle Scrooge, who looked like Donald when the doll was given to the Zombie some seventy years before. Donald--followed by the nephews and "Bombie the Zombie"--goes to Africa to persuade the witch doctor Foola Zoola to give him the antidote for the poison, which is supposed to shrink its victims to the size of a rat.
