A fairy declares that the son of a woodsman will marry the King's daughter. The wicked King tries to get the boy killed, but fate intervenes to save the boy each time. The princess does marry the boy, but before the King will approve the wedding, he orders the boy to bring him three golden hairs from the head of the Giant King.
