This anthology issue contains at least two Freddy stories. "Bargain Buck Daze" follows Freddy and Puff as they wake early to attend a bargain sale at Pete's Department Store, where Freddy becomes enthusiastic about economizing on life's necessities. "The Green-Eyed Monster" features Freddy dealing with jealousy when his social secretary informs him his calendar is not full on Friday night, leading him to attempt to secure a date to a gala with a girl named Peggy, though complications arise when another character named Gorgus seems interested in the same girl.

The Winner
6 pp · Teen

Freddy enters the International Championship Road Race with a car that's got more power than anyone expects, but he and his friend Stuff face some stiff competition on the track. When their engine starts running sluggish, Stuff discovers a mysterious product that gives their vehicle an incredible boost—though using it wisely might be trickier than winning the race itself. It's a high-octane tale of strategy, friendship, and the temptation to take shortcuts when victory is on the line.

Make a Wish
2 pp · Teen

A young man wins a contest at a fair and gets to make one wish—anything in the world is his for the taking. When presented with sports cars, airplanes, and other luxuries, he surprises everyone by choosing something far more practical and honest. It's a lighthearted look at what really matters when you've got just one chance to ask for what you truly need.

Nick the BeatCholly

Nick the Beat falls for a TV commercial promising that a cheap beauty mud will make his skin shine like a diamond—or double your money back. When the product fails spectacularly, Nick becomes obsessed with collecting every bottle in the city to claim his refund, but discovers too late that the company has quietly changed the guarantee's fine print. A hilariously cautionary tale about reading the label before you buy.

Wingrove

Freddy's been too caught up in hot-rodding to give his girl Peggy much attention, so when he learns she already has a date to the big gala—with the fancy, foreign Wingrove—jealousy hits hard. The rivalry escalates when both boys end up in a high-stakes race the next day, with Wingrove's condescension and dirty driving tactics pushing Freddy to prove he's more than just a car-crazy kid.
