Frontline Combat #10
In "A Baby!", Harvey Kurtzman’s sharp storytelling brings a strikingly human moment to the legendary tale of Geronimo, as the famed Apache leader, weary from years of resistance, makes a surprising turn toward surrender. With John Severin’s dynamic art and Bill Elder’s bold inks, the story captures the weight of history and the quiet irony of a warrior reduced to selling his likeness at the St. Louis World’s Fair. The cover by Severin and Elder perfectly frames the moment’s stark contrast between past defiance and present resignation.

Geronimo and his band of renegades make forays into Mexico, where the Mexicans fight against the intrusion, but not too successfully. And the Americans along the Arizona border wonder just what can stop the Apache outlaws. Finally, Geronimo tires of running and surrenders, and months later, the once feared warrior is reduced to selling his picture and autograph at the World's Fair in St. Louis.
