Ha Ha Comics #88 is an anthology featuring animal-themed humor stories. One story, "Horage," follows a hungry dog who wishes someone owned him so he could get square meals daily; when the dog spots a butcher shop, it becomes so excited by the smell of meat that it chases the butcher in a chaotic sequence. Another story features a seal and a sea lion clapping and performing tricks, with comedic misunderstandings about who is performing and for whom. A third story depicts a mouse encountering a cat with a deep, gravelly voice; after a series of dream-like encounters where the cat keeps trying to catch the mouse (including an attempt to flatten it with a bucket), the mouse wakes to realize it was all a dream about getting a nourishing breakfast.

In a whimsical tale from Ha Ha Comics #88, Jonathan the mouse, desperate to escape the cramped confines of his home, ventures into the open desert—only to find that even the vast sands are no refuge when his mother arrives, declaring she can't stand the crowded spaces either. As the two mice lament their shared love of open space, the story takes a silly, surreal turn with a chase that blurs the line between reality and imagination.
