Hate #18
In "Brother Butch," Peter Bagge delivers another sharp, character-driven installment of his acclaimed series, following Buddy as he navigates family, work, and the occasional absurd detour. With Butch in tow, Buddy shuttles his sister’s kids to soccer, drops off Lisa for a job interview, and helps Jay scout a storefront in Paterson, N.J.—all before Buddy picks up a used monster truck for $1500. The story unfolds with Bagge’s signature blend of dry humor and quiet emotional insight, capturing the awkward rhythms of everyday life. The interior art and lettering are by Bagge, with inks by Jim Blanchard and colors by Mary Woodring and Rebecca Bowen; the cover, also by Bagge, captures the moment’s offbeat energy.
