Hopalong Cassidy #45 contains two stories. In "Ghosts in Ghost Town," by R.R. Symes, Professor Carman and his three companions—Tom, Clem, and Buck—arrive at the abandoned Ghost Town to investigate rumors of hauntings and encounters with outlaws. The Professor dismisses superstition and resolves to visit alone, but the three cowboys tag along to play pranks on him, eventually witnessing strange events near a stream. In "Hopalong Cassidy and the Desperate Reformer," a masked bandit steals a bag of gold from Sheriff Simmons, and Hopalong must locate the thief by investigating the Gambling Emporium before the criminal can escape.
