In the first tale, Jack-in-the-Box attempts to prove he caught a crook by sending a letter and photo as evidence, but worries recipients won't believe him, leading him to send an express package to the post office. A second story follows a young woman named Karat who is warned by her mother against attending a hobo's ball dressed immodestly, where she encounters roughneck characters and becomes involved in a chaotic brawl at an airfield. The final story depicts mutineers aboard the ship "Southern Belle" who are court-martialed and sentenced to life exile, only to descend into violent fighting among themselves as their sanity deteriorates during their ocean confinement.
The Squat Car Squad tangles with a serial thief targeting red flannels across town, but when they set a trap using Officer Rook's own undergarments as bait, the scheme goes awry and the culprit slips away—leading them to an unlikely ally and a wild chase through Cedar Centre. It's a lighthearted romp through the comedy crime-fighting world that Jack-in-the-Box readers knew and loved in 1946.
