The annual JLA/Avengers get-together is shown over the years, with many members and many adventures. But Captain America and Superman don't believe these new world circumstances. Eventually, the spell fades and the 2 groups -- aided by the Phantom Stranger, journey to the Grandmaster's final resting place. The Grandmaster then reveals the heroes' destinies -- most of which are heart-rending at best. Only then do they decide to combine forces against Krona.
