“Love”

In "Love," the 1968 Josie #34, Albert stumbles upon an enchanted songbook penned by the legendary witch Samantha Spellbinder of Salem, Massachusetts. When he strums its peculiar chords on his guitar, a magical spell sweeps through town, turning everyone—including Jo and the gang—into hopeless romantics for trees, rocks, and even mailboxes. Only Melody, ever the heart of the group, remains immune, and it's up to her to guide her friends back to real connection. Written by Frank Doyle and illustrated by Dan DeCarlo, with lettering by Bill Yoshida and a cover by Dan DeCarlo, this charming tale blends whimsy and heart in a 12-cent comic from 1968.

Albert gets an old book of songs written by "Samantha Spellbinder," a witch from Salem, Massachusetts. Whenever he plays her way-out chords on his guitar, the magic of the music causes anyone within earshot to fall in love -- but only with inanimate objects like trees, rocks, and mailboxes. Only Melody is unaffected by the spell, because she already loves everything and everyone. And it's up to Melody to show everyone that true love is for people, not for things.
