"A Record Breaking Day" follows a young woman named Kindred Soul who becomes infatuated with a sophisticated man and attempts to impress him by calling his phone number. After a series of misunderstandings and an embarrassing conversation, she learns he is actually named Gerry and works at a fish market. Undeterred by this revelation, Kindred Soul tracks down Gerry's address and visits his home, discovering that Gerry is actually a girl—much to Kindred Soul's surprise and delight. The story concludes with Kindred Soul's successful romantic connection with Gerry, who agrees to knit a sweater for Junior as a gift for the hay ride.
