This anthology issue contains a lead story about a criminal gang that outwits law enforcement, forcing their captive to cook for them while holding him at gunpoint and threatening violence. The second story, "The Lucky Number," is a true detective case adapted from actual police and FBI files, in which sheriffs in Illinois track a gang of torture-killers across multiple counties using clues from a wrench and leather strap left at crime scenes, ultimately capturing the murderers after they target additional victims and the survivors provide descriptions of a gray-haired gang leader.
