Private detective Ken Shannon takes a bodyguard job protecting Charlotte Huston's priceless ruby necklace, only to discover it's part of a larger criminal scheme. When crooks including Louie the Gink and Sammy Karper attempt to steal the jewel, a chaotic shootout ensues, with the criminals double-crossing each other over the stolen money and necklace. Shannon thwarts the heist, though one of the criminals dies in the violence, leaving Shannon to report the incident to homicide.
