A complete western novelette titled "Struggle in the Wilderness" in which Lash LaRue becomes involved in a conflict between settlers and Native Americans over a payroll train. After a character named Harris goes missing with the payroll, Lash pursues the situation into mountainous terrain where he discovers a group trapped at a cliff and must negotiate with both the frontier phantom and Native American forces to resolve the standoff without bloodshed.
