"Hot-Rod in Cousin Trouble" follows Hot-Rod as his cousin Elfreda visits; when his mother asks him to entertain her, Hot-Rod takes her to the lake to escape the heat, but his plans go awry when she tags along on his outing. Little Eva appears in a separate story where she and a friend attempt to sell items door-to-door as part of a house-to-house campaign, encountering Mrs. Smith and trying to persuade her to make a purchase with various sales tactics.
In "Finders Weepers," a young girl stumbles upon a wallet and decides to return it, hoping for a reward, but her well-intentioned quest leads her into a series of misadventures at the city hospital and a nursery full of crying babies. Her attempts to help and hide from the chaos only make things worse, leaving her exhausted and confused by the time she finally returns the wallet—only to discover she’s been rewarded far beyond her expectations.
Johnny, a boy obsessed with his baseball game, is forced to entertain his visiting cousin Elfreda, whom he finds annoying. To escape, he tricks her into playing games and eventually enlists his friend Cindy to distract her, only to discover the gang has gone to the drugstore instead—drawn away by another girl offering ice cream.
Eva, sweltering in the heat, tries everything from hiding in a refrigerator to daydreaming of cool things, only to be turned away from the town’s reservoir for swimming. Determined to cool off, she heads to a swimming hole, only to realize she forgot her bathing suit—until a clever solution presents itself.
Clarence and Eva team up to sell a bizarre new perfume made from a mysterious formula, using a repurposed garden sprayer they hastily clean—or don’t clean—at all. As their door-to-door sales attempt collapses under the weight of universally horrified reactions, they stumble upon an unexpected use for their stinky concoction when a florist discovers it keeps flies away.
