Little Miss Sunny and her friend Tinker build a homemade tin can telephone to talk across the house, but when Sunny's mother accidentally destroys it while answering the doorbell, the kids are forced to take it down—only to find themselves stranded at a lakeside cottage when a nearby dam fails and flooding cuts off their escape. With quick thinking and a magnifying glass, Sunny helps her father signal for help, but when forest rangers can't communicate the danger of a crumbling bluff overhead, Tinker's makeshift telephone becomes the family's lifeline to safety.
