Tras la abrupta marcha de Hulk, Los Vengadores emprenden su búsqueda. Gracias a una llamada de Rick Jones, quien encuentra al gigante esmeralda cerca de la cueva en la que se refugia, acudirán a Nuevo México, donde intentarán capturarlo. Al mismo tiempo, Namor sigue de cerca los movimientos del monstruo gamma, al que pretende engatusar para ser su aliado en su cruzada. Tras pactar, Namor desafía a los Vengadores a acudir a una pelea. En la batalla las fuerzas parecen igualadas, pero todo se tuerce y al final todo queda en la misma situación que al principio.
