Love Diary #29
In "The Marrying Kind!", office worker Cathie grapples with her feelings for men who are emotionally or physically out of reach—first a soldier named Craig, then her divorced boss Stephen—while her sister Helen’s settled family life makes her question her own path. As her emotions come into focus, Cathie confronts her own fears about commitment, leading to a heartfelt reconciliation with Craig. Mort Leav’s expressive art brings the story’s quiet emotional turns to life, capturing a moment of personal clarity in a 1952 romance that feels both timeless and true to its era.

Office worker Cathie finds married men more interesting than single men. She dates soldier Craig and they get along but he is shipped overseas. Cathie’s sister Helen is married and has three children and Cathie doesn’t want that sort of life. Cathie finds herself missing Craig, but dates her divorced, older boss Stephen in his absence. Craig returns and Cathie is cool to him. Stephen’s wife says Cathie fears commitment and that’s why she is attracted to unavailable men. Cathie realises this is true and seeks out Craig and apologizes. They reconcile.
