Lois visits psychiatrist Dr. Edward. As a child, her drunken father beat her and her mother. As an adult, she became a nurse and fell in love with Cyril, but accidentally reveals the formula to his new anesthetic and ruins him financially. She and patient Eugene fall in love, but she bungles during an operation and he’s blinded. Her next boyfriend Bob dies in a diving accident. Lois feels guilty but her sessions with Edward cure her. When Edward proposes marriage, she’s afraid she’ll subconsciously harm him. Edward puts her to a risky test and she passes, so they can now wed.
