Libby’s lighthouse-keeper father tosses her diary into the sea. Ship captain Gil returns it to her, but she’s embarrassed because her romantic fantasies were written there. Gil and Libby fall in love but her father doesn’t want her to marry a sailor. Nicholas, a shipping executive, has her father’s approval and he tricks Libby into thinking Gil is already married. Libby falls for Nicholas but learns he’s scheming to wreck Gil’s ship for insurance purposes. Libby saves the ship, Nicholas falls out of lighthouse to his death, and Gil and Libby are reunited.
