“The Invasion of Alslavia”

In "The Invasion of Alslavia," Marvel’s first superheroes, Torch and Toro, answer a desperate call from the small European nation of Alslavia as Nazi forces close in. Facing an armored invasion wall on tank treads, the duo battles their way through Nazi defenses only to uncover a hidden undersea fortress beneath a seemingly abandoned submarine. Written and drawn by Carl Burgos, this 1941 tale blends wartime urgency with early superhero adventure, all rendered with dynamic energy by the creative team behind the series. The cover, by Alex Schomburg, captures the dread of the submerged threat with striking precision.

The small European nation of Alslavia appeals to Torch and Toro for aid against the Nazis. On arrival, they encounter the Nazi invasion wall, a large armored wall mounted on tank treads. After destroying the wall, the Torches head out to sea where they spot a Nazi submarine. When they investigate, they determine that there is no one aboard. Diving down below, they discover a terrifying Nazi undersea fortress lying in wait for the British and Alslavian cruisers sent out to sink the sub. Torch destroys the fortress and all aboard her perish.
