Cassandra Locke, a time-traveler from the late 22nd century, arrives in the 1980s to uncover the truth about the Skrull Empire's early visits to Earth during the 20th century. Uatu the Watcher tells her that virtually the whole of Earth's known superhuman population, hero and villain alike, have joined forces to oppose an advance squadron of Skrull battle cruisers. When Earth's defeat is imminent, Pixie triggers a resonance overload which explodes all of the battle cruisers' engines, killing human and Skrull alike. Cassandra hastily activates her time-belt, sending her further back in time.
