Modern Love #6
In "Second Wife," a 1950 EC comic from the Modern Love series, secretary Laura accepts a marriage proposal from wealthy industrialist Randolph after a tour of his factory. As they settle into his home and meet his mother, Laura learns that Randolph’s first wife—now deceased—was deeply mourned, though he grows visibly upset whenever her name is mentioned. Written, drawn, and inked by Al Feldstein, with lettering by Jim Wroten, this story unfolds with quiet tension and emotional depth, all rendered in the distinctive, expressive style of its creator. The cover, also by Feldstein, captures the story’s mood with a stark, evocative image.
