“Book Two: Into the Depths”

In "Book Two: Into the Depths," Nick Fury finds himself hunted by the very organization he once led, as Roxxon's infiltration reaches the highest levels of S.H.I.E.L.D.'s Secret Council. With Jimmy Woo under their control and key allies like Dum Dum, Sitwell, Gabe, and the Contessa now targeted, Fury realizes he can trust no one—nowhere is safe, and every face could be a betrayal. Written by Bob Harras and illustrated by Paul Neary, with inks by Kim DeMulder and colors by Bernie Jaye, this 1988 issue delivers a tense, paranoid thriller, its cover by Bill Sienkiewicz capturing the creeping dread of a world turned against its own.
