Red Skelton in Patches follows the misadventures of a boy scout named Sandy who, after being dared to spend two weeks at a labor camp run by his uncle, encounters various comic mishaps. During his stay, Sandy accidentally causes chaos involving chickens and spiders, participates in a peasant pageant featuring cannibals and humorous pantomime performances, and narrowly escapes through a window during a fire. The story culminates when Sandy's camp supervisor Mr. Tubbs invites him to share lunch at his home, where Tubbs proudly announces to his wife Miss Smith that Sandy will write a report about the experience so the world can see how wonderful it was, though Miss Smith sarcastically suggests Sandy could have given Tubbs a far more deserved rating.
