Stories include "Law Comes to Dodge City," depicting a frontier law enforcement narrative; a tale of the atomic bomb's first test on July 16, 1945 in New Mexico and its global implications; an Arctic expedition account from March 1909 involving Commander Bartlett's trek across ice-covered ocean and a daring rescue operation; and "Send for Gus Kleisch," recounting Coast Guard aviator Lieutenant August Kleisch's heroic helicopter rescue of Army Transport Command flyers downed on the Labrador ice in January 1943, for which he received the Distinguished Flying Cross.
