An anthology of biographical stories celebrating African American achievers, this issue features Jackie Robinson as "Rookie of the Year," depicting his baseball career with the Brooklyn Dodgers. The issue also includes the story of Sadie T. M. Alexander, a scholar and lawyer born in Philadelphia who became the first Black woman to earn a Ph.D. from the University of Pennsylvania, and was later appointed to President Truman's Committee on Civil Rights in 1947.
