“Gay Blades”

In "Gay Blades," Reggie puts his skating prowess on display—only for Sabrina to take matters into her own hands with a series of increasingly absurd magical interventions. Written and illustrated by Al Hartley, with inks by Joe Sinnott, colors by Barry Grossman, and letters by Bill Yoshida, this 1972 gem features Dan DeCarlo’s dynamic cover, capturing the chaos of a very unbalanced ice rink.

Reggie shows off his skating skills. Deciding that Reggie needs to be taken down a peg, Sabrina creates an invisible shield for him to crash into, magically rips his pants, and finally (after using her magic to force him to stay on the ice against his will) causes him to spin around until he drills through the ice.
