Linda’s boyfriend Rod moves to Chicago to become an actor. She agrees to wait for him as long as it takes. Rod becomes famous and marries someone else. Linda marries lawyer Howard on the rebound, even though she still loves Rod. Five years pass, and Linda and Howard have a son. Rod comes home and tells Linda he’s divorced. They have an affair and Linda decides to leave her husband for him, but discovers Rod considers her “just another little tramp.” Linda returns to Howard and he admits he knew about her affair, but wanted to let her get Howard “out of your system.” They reconcile.
