Sniffy the Pup stumbles upon a pirate map hidden in a library book, accidentally setting off a chain of misadventures when a pair of bumbling pirates mistake him for a crewmate. After a wild sea voyage filled with escapes, near-misses, and a lifeboat mishap, Sniffy finds himself stranded and searching for treasure—only to discover the truth behind the legend.

Freddy Fawn and Willy Weasel are startled by a series of fake scares in the woods, leading to a dramatic encounter with a lost polar bear who claims to need help finding his way home. When Willy tries to trick them again by pretending to be chased, Freddy and the others set a clever trap to teach him a lesson—only to reveal that the bear is actually a kind-hearted wanderer. The story ends with Willy promising never to scare anyone again, though the full truth of the twist remains just out of reach.

Sniffy the Pup, determined to join his friends on a hike despite being told he’ll only cause trouble, sneaks into their knapsack and stows away. As the group sets off, Sniffy’s hunger leads him to eat all the hot dogs, then he’s discovered and chased away—only to later surprise everyone by proving he knows his way around the woods, finding worms and fish to share.
