Conan et ses amis arrivent à Messantia et se disputent avec des membres arrogants de la garde royale. Deux gardes tendent une embuscade à Conan pour le vendre comme esclave. Conan se déchaîne et se cache dans la maison de la voyante Momratha, qui lui montre des visions de son avenir. Pendant ce temps, Yusuf a tué un capitaine qui harcelait Tara, et maintenant ils sont tous les deux en fuite. Conan est appréhendé mais refuse de trahir ses amis.
