A mysterious figure (later to be revealed as Llyra) breaks the Wizard out of Ryker's Island prison so they can get revenge on both Spider-Man and the Sub-Mariner respectively. The Wizard sends a giant gold robot spider to climb up the World Trade Center to goad Spider-Man into a fight so he can steal his spider-sense energy. Spider-Man knocks the robot off the side of the building destroying it, but the Wizard is able to get the energy signature. He traces the energy to Peter Parker's apartment and sets it on fire. Spider-Man is able to rescue the neighbours but gets trapped saving a wino.
