Exiled from his fellow Vulcans, Spock contracts with Cyrano Jones to secretly travel to Romulus. Once there he makes contact with Senator Pardek, whose son assisted Spock in later years in the original timeline in a quest for re-unification between the Romulans and the Vulcans. However they are discovered by Romulan authorities and both are arrested. Meanwhile, Romulan extremists plot to destroy the survivors of the Vulcan race using the same red matter that was used to destroy the planet Vulcan.
