SubHuman #1
"Rapture and the Deep (Chapter 1)" introduces Dr. Krill Stromer, a brilliant oceanographer and engineer who transforms into a SubHuman after diving in a radical bathysphere built from inherited blueprints. As she battles sea monsters and a saboteur using a hijacked helicopter, Krill struggles to understand her new abilities and ancestral memories—while her crew fights to survive. Mark Schultz and Michael Ryan’s gripping story, illustrated with precision by Roger Petersen and colored by David Stewart, launches a bold sci-fi thriller with a haunting cover by Schultz himself.

Dr. Krill Stromer, an oceanographer and mechanical engineer, built a radical bathysphere from old inherited notes. Once submerged, it transformed her into a SubHuman that can change color, endure killing cold, breathe underwater, etc. Krill doesn't understand the changes, only that ancestral memories guide her. The ship is attacked by sea monsters and a saboteur who hijacks a helicopter to kidnap Krill. Sailors shoot and hack sea monsters, but Krill notes it's not working. Grabbing an anchor for weight, she dives overboard through the ice.
