“La bruja Luisa Lane”

In "La bruja Luisa Lane," Lois Lane stumbles upon a mysterious jeweled ornament while doing Clark Kent a favor—taking his laundry to the cleaners. Convinced the trinket has cursed her with a strange power to unsettle criminals, she begins targeting those beyond the reach of the law, aided secretly by Superman. The gem, it turns out, was placed in Kal-El’s rocket by his father, Jor-el, as a safeguard against meteors, its true purpose hidden in the past. Cover by Win Mortimer, art by Al Plastino.

In actually doing Clark a good deed by taking his dirty shirts to the laundry, Lois finds a small jeweled ornament which has fallen from a pocket. Several coincidences convince her that she has become a jinx, so she decides to use her new "power" to harass criminals who are beyond the law. With the hidden aid of Superman she succeeds in intimidating several crooked characters. The jeweled ornament, we learn, was put in baby Kal-el's rocket by his father, Jor-el, to destroy any threatening meteors, as it has the property to weaken iron.
