As tensions rise during the holiday meal, Superman abruptly leaves for the Fortress of Solitude, leaving behind a strained moment with Superchica, Superboy, and Acero—three young heroes who’ve been watching over Metropolis in his absence. Written by Mark Schultz and illustrated by Doug Mahnke, with inks by Dennis Janke and colors by Glenn Whitmore and Digital Chameleon, the cover by Mahnke and Janke captures the emotional weight of the moment.
