Der Superheld Vartox muss den Tod seiner geliebten Frau auf einem fernen Planeten miterleben. Wissenschaftler sagen ihm, daß sie sterben musste, weil ihr biologischer Zwilling auf der Erde einem Verbrechen zum Opfer fiel. Vartox will den Verbrecher von der Erde holen um ihm auf seinem Heimatplaneten zur Rechenschaft zu ziehen. In Gedanken geht er den unausweichlichen Kampf gegen Superman durch und muss erkennen, daß es so nicht funktioniert.
