In "The Secret!", Cerebus is drugged by thieves who think he knows the location of the legendary Black Sun Temple. To extract the secret, they enlist Jaka the dancer to seduce him—her plan working until her conscience gets the better of her. When she confesses, Cerebus, smitten, offers to run off with her and keep the treasure for themselves. But as the drugs wear off, his memory fades—along with his recollection of her—and when she tries to join him, he coldly turns her away.

In "Black Sun Rising," Cerebus ventures into the treacherous temple of the Black Sun, where he crosses paths with Elrod, a less-than-sharp rival seeking the same legendary treasure. As they navigate the temple’s winding corridors, a priest devises a scheme to impersonate the Nameless God—only his disguise bears an uncanny resemblance to Cerebus himself, sparking a series of chaotic misunderstandings. When Elrod’s bumbling leads to a dramatic fall into a chasm guarded by a colossal spider, Cerebus’s fate seems sealed—until the volcano itself awakens, hurling him across the desert in a wild, unexpected escape.

In "Day of the Earth-Pig!", a wounded and delirious Cerebus is taken prisoner by a band of Conniptins led by a bumbling nobleman. With the noble's underlings scheming to replace him using Cerebus as a puppet, the warrior weighs the absurd offer of commanding a conquering horde—though the price of refusal is a very real threat of being disemboweled.
