Agents, the super-powered espionage team from the 1960s, originally published by Tower Comics. Volume 1 reprints the debut stories featuring Dynamo, NoMan, and other agents as they battle the sinister forces of the Warlord and his criminal organization. This volume is part of DC's Archive Editions series, preserving the classic Silver Age tales in a high-quality, restored format.
In "First Encounter!", the T.H.U.N.D.E.R. Agents respond to a grim discovery: the brilliant Professor Jennings has been murdered, and his lab left in ruins by the Warlord. With only a few unharmed devices recovered, the team begins testing the strange equipment—uncovering abilities that hint at a new kind of mission. As they realize the tools demand elite, specially trained operatives, the Agents face the challenge of assembling the best of the best to carry on Jennings’ legacy.
In "Menace of the Iron Fog," Leonard Brown, newly empowered by a fleeting powerbelt, must confront Warlord’s armored enforcers in a desperate bid to stop their advance. As his strength wanes, he’s captured and brought before Iron Maiden, the lieutenant whose motives remain as enigmatic as her iron-clad presence.
In "T.H.U.N.D.E.R. Agent NoMan," the aging scientist Doctor Dunn is reborn as a powerful android, his mind housed in a body of near-indestructible strength and cloaked in invisibility. When a rogue agent known as Demo attempts to hijack a factory’s chemical reserves using subterranean soldiers, NoMan steps in to stop the assault—only to face a vow of revenge from the defeated operative.
In "The Enemy Within," Janus—known to T.H.U.N.D.E.R. as Menthor—struggles with a secret allegiance as he serves the agency while secretly working for the Warlord. Equipped with a powerful helmet that grants him mental abilities, he finds himself torn between his orders and his growing desire to protect the very team he’s meant to destroy. When the headquarters is threatened, his actions during a crisis force him to confront the conflict within—only to awaken afterward with no memory of what he did.
When the Warlord unleashes his zombie-men on T.H.U.N.D.E.R.'s Weapon Development Section, the T.H.U.N.D.E.R. Squad—Guy, Dynamite, Kitten, Weed, and Egghead—races to stop the assault. As they battle through the onslaught, the Warlord makes a chilling announcement: Dynamo has been captured.
In "At the Mercy of the Iron Maiden," the T.H.U.N.D.E.R. Squad—Guy, Dynamite, Kitten, Weed, and Egghead—join forces with NoMan and Menthor to rescue Dynamo from the clutches of the Iron Maiden and the Warlord on a hidden island. With the enemy's base overrun and their forces captured, the team must now track down the two fugitives before they strike again.
