“(Mid) American Gothic!”

In "Mid" American Gothic!", Peter Parker finds himself in Emporia, Kansas, touring the On-Line Research complex after being offered a new job—only to swing into action when a fire breaks out. With the help of a mysterious foreman whose super speed hints at a strange origin, Spider-Man confronts the dangerous Dr. Nero, uncovering secrets that make the offer more complicated than it first seemed. Written by David Michelinie and brought to life with bold, dynamic art by Todd McFarlane—both interior and cover—this 1988 issue blends small-town intrigue with a touch of the uncanny, leaving Peter with a life-changing decision.
