In "Tim O'Casey's Wrecking Crew!", young Tommy finds himself transformed into The Fly after reclaiming his stolen fly ring, which is pulled from the sky by a mysterious junk-plane wielding magnetic power. Written by Joe Simon and illustrated by Jack Kirby with inks by Simon and Paul Reinman, this 1959 adventure sees Tommy take flight—literally—into the desert to stop a criminal operation led by the Junkman, dodging a giant mechanical flyswatter and turning the plane’s own magnetism against it. The cover, penciled and inked by Joe Simon, captures the moment of transformation with bold, dynamic flair.

Cruel Mister March takes Tommy's fly ring for slacking washing floors. Later a junk-plane flies over the city and rips out bank vaults with magnetism. The plane lands in the desert where Hans Yunkmann, the "Junkman", crafted the plane for thugs. Another pass over town rips loose metal, and Tommy snatches his ring from the air. Becoming The Fly, he flies to the desert, dodges thugs and a giant mechanical flyswatter. He sets the magnetism machine to trigger too high, and super-magnetism rips the compound apart. Back home, Tommy gets permission to retrieve his ring.
